Gangster killed inside Delhi court, 2 gunmen posed as lawyers, shot dead

Jailed gangster Jitender Gogi, who was earlier this year found operating freely from behind the bars, was killed during firing at Delhi’s Rohini court on Friday.

According to initial information, Gogi was shot dead by two armed assailants of a rival gang led by jailed gangster Sunil alias Tillu Tajpuriya while being presented at the court.

Intelligence team of the Special Cell who were with Gogi opened fire at the assailants, killing the two men, who were posing as advocates.

“Two assailants in uniform of advocate fired upon Gogi in court, following which police also opened fire,” said Rohini DCP Pranav Tayal.

The police officer said the incident took place when Gogi entered the court where the two men, posing as advocates, were already sitting.

“Minutes after he entered, they whipped out pistols and opened fire. There was chaos and police personnel of the Counter Intelligence team fired in retaliation. Both the attackers died at the spot,” he said.

In videos, gunshots are heard and policemen and lawyers are seen in a scramble.

The two gangs had reportedly been at war for years and more than 25 people have died in their clashes.
