Asghar Farhadi is back and in top form with “A Hero,” which has been selected by Iran as the country’s official Oscar entry in the 2022 race for Best International Feature.
The film is Farhadi’s follow-up to “Everybody Knows”.
The movie premiered to rave reviews at the Cannes Film Festival over the summer and Farhadi was awarded the Grand Prix by Spike Lee’s Cannes jury. Farhadi has also won the category twice before thanks to “A Separation” and “The Salesman.”
In “A Hero,” Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh and Fereshteh Sadrorafaii lead the cast.
The story follows Rahim, who is in jail for a debt he hasn’t been able to pay. During a two-day leave, he tries to convince his creditor to withdraw his complaint in exchange for paying back part of the debt.
