India on Thursday registered 2,86,384 new coronavirus infections, which took the overall tally in the country to 4,03,71,500 since the pandemic began in January 2020.
The daily positivity rate increased to 19.59% from 16.16% on Wednesday.
More than 72.21 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in India so far, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.
The country’s coronavirus vaccine coverage has crossed 163.84 crore, according to the latest data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. More than 22 lakh doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
India reported 665 deaths in the 24 hours, taking the overall number of deaths to 4,91,127.
