Veteran farmer leader from Western Uttar Pradesh, Ghulam Mohammad Jaula, passed away on Monday after a severe cardiac arrest at his house in Uttar Pradesh‘s Muzaffarnagar. The 85-year-old was reputed for his efforts to build brotherhood between Jats and Muslims.
He coined the slogan ‘Har Har Mahadev, Allah Hu Akbar‘ a symbol of communal harmony.
“West UP has lost among its greatest kisan netas and one who always stood for Hindu-Muslim unity and religious amity,” Independent filmmaker Nakul Singh Sawhney tweeted, paying tribute to Jaula.
The 85-year-old played an important role in the formation of Bhartiya Kisan Union. Jaula wielded considerable authority in the region as the former right-hand man of the legendary farmer leader Mahendra Singh “Baba” Tikait.
Jaula was the Muslim face of the Bharatiya Kisan Union until 2013 Muzaffarnagar anti-Muslim violence. He then formed Bhartiya Kisan Mazdoor Manch.
He had been received by five Prime Ministers and three Chief Ministers of UP to discuss contemporary issues relating to the farmers, informs Muslim Mirror.
