On camera, student stabbed to death in busy Delhi road

A hotel management student was stabbed to death on a road in full public view at a market in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar.

25-year-old Mayank Panwar was with a friend at the market when four-five people came running towards him with knives, according to the police.

The attack was captured on CCTV. The CCTV footage shows the student having an argument with the group before he starts to run across the road. The assailants catch up and swing their knives at Panwar as he tries to push them away.

The assailants are seen stabbing Panwar many times before they ran away from the area.

Shockingly, people and motorists passing by the busy south Delhi road make no attempt to stop the brutal attack.

With the help of some passers-by Panwar’s friend took him to AIIMS, where he died during treatment.

The police have filed a murder case and said that they are looking for the men seen in the CCTV footage.

“The motive behind the stabbing is currently unknown. A case has been registered under Indian Penal Code Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention),” said Benita Mary Jaiker, district commissioner of police (south).
