UP: Muslim students protest after denied entry to campus in hijab

Several students of the Hindu college in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district alleged that they were denied entry into the college for wearing hijab. The college authorities maintained that the college has implemented a dress code for all students.

The Muslim women students said that they were denied entry into the college for wearing hijab, and were allegedly being compelled to remove it at the entrance gate.

Following this, a scuffle broke out between students belonging to the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha group, and the professors, who said that rules had to be followed.

The student group submitted a memorandum to include wearing hijab as dress code for Muslim women and demanded that the college allows them to attend their classes wearing it.

A video of the scene from the Hindu college has been making rounds on the Internet.

Meanwhile, the college professor, Dr AP Singh said that they have implemented a dress code for the students here and anybody who refuses to follow it will be barred from entering the college campus.
