“We are united. we will fight unitedly,” say 17 parties in Patna, common agenda for 2024 to be finalised in next month

Following the first meeting of the Opposition parties to forge a common front against the ruling BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Patna on Friday, the Opposition leaders said that all the leaders of 17 parties have agreed to fight unitedly against current regime.

“Very positive talks were held today and we have decided to contest (Lok Sabha polls) together. Another meeting of all the (opposition) parties will be held to decide the next course of action. In that meeting, almost everything will be finalised. Mallikarjun Kharge will chair that meeting early next month,” said Nitish Kumar.

The next meet in Shimla will finalise the modalities of the front, said Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Leaders from as many as 17 parties had joined the meeting.

“PM Modi distributing sandalwood in US when country facing problems; I’m fit now, can take on him,” said RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Yadav said that the people of India want the Opposition to fight unitedly against BJP and RSS.

“We may have some differences but have decided to work together with flexibility to protect our ideology,” said Congress former chief Rahul Gandhi.

He went on to say: “Like Mallikarjun Kharge and Nitish Kumar said, we will take this discussion to more depth in the next meeting. The opposition unity is a process, which will move onwards from here.”

“We will fight together against the political vendetta of the BJP. Let our blood flow, but we will protect the people and the country. Next meeting will be held in Shimla,” said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

She went on to say: “We have resolved on three things: We are united. We will fight unitedly. Don’t call us opposition, we are also citizens of this country.”

“17 parties from Kashmir to Kanyakumari have come together not for power, but for principles,” said NC leader Omar Abdullah.

BJP’s nine-year rule has become “disastrous and detrimental” to constitution of our country, alleged CPI leader D Raja.

“We can’t let Gandhi’s India to become Godse’s country,” said PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti.

“Just like JP movement, our united front will get blessings of public,” NCP supremo Sharad Pawar told reporters.

“Message from Patna meeting is clear for all of us that we need to work together to save the country,” said Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.
