FIR against BJP’s Amit Malviya in Bengaluru over tweet on Rahul Gandhi

An FIR has been registered against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and its I-T department head Amit Malviya in Bengaluru for mocking Rahul Gandhi in a tweet.

The case was filed in Bengaluru by Congress leader Ramesh Babu.

“Rahul Gandhi is dangerous and playing an insidious game,” Malviya had written on his social media handle. In another tweet, the BJP leader shared an animated video that allegedly features altered versions of Gandhi’s speeches.

The case is registered under 153A and 505(2) of the IPC.

Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge said the BJP had the habit of “crying” whenever it faced the law.

“Whenever the BJP bears the brunt of the law, they cry. They have a problem following the law of the land. I want to ask the BJP which part of the FIR has been filed with a mala fide intention. We have done it after taking legal opinion,” Priyank Kharge told news agency ANI.

He was responding to BJP leaders who said that the complaint was politically motivated.
