India is a Hindu nation, we have to become Akhand Bharat: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

In an interview with a news channel on Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that India is a Hindu Rashtra because all citizens of the country are Hindus. Adityanath shared the clip of the interview on Twitter with Hindi captions that translate as: “India was, is and will continue to be a Hindu nation.”

Another tweet with a clip from the interview reads, “We have to become ‘Akhand Bharat'”.

Adityanath was answering a question by an ABP news anchor on the “sensitive matter” of pitching for the Hindu nation. Several Hindutva leaders like Adityanath advocates for Hindu supremacy that undermines the rights of religious minorities.

The idea of “Akhand Bharat” will become a reality as Pakistan would eventually assimilate into India, He said.

The controversial BJP leader claimed that Hindu identity is not associated with a creed, religion or sect but is a cultural identity.

“When someone from India goes to perform Haj, he is addressed as a Hindu there,” the chief minister claimed.

“No one there sees him as Haji, no one accepts him as Islam, there he is addressed by the name of Hindu. If seen in that context, India is a Hindu Rashtra, because every citizen of India is a Hindu.”
