India reported 10,158 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours with the active caseload reaching 44,998 as of Thursday morning.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.42%. The active cases now constitute 0.10% of the total infections.
The case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19%.
The single-day coronavirus case count in national capital Delhi crossed the 1,000 mark on Wednesday after the city saw 1,149 fresh cases.
Government officials announced yesterday that India has entered the endemic phase of COVID-19, with a projected increase in cases for the next 10-12 days followed by a decrease in infections. Notably, during the endemic stage, the spread of infection is confined to a particular region, while in a pandemic, it can spread on a global or wider scale.
