The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted interim bail for a period of eight weeks to, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, in the violence case related to the killings of four protesting farmers and a journalist in October 2021.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and JK Maheshwari asked Ashish to leave Uttar Pradesh within a week of his release and not to stay in UP or Delhi while the trial is ongoing.
The benefit of the interim bail was also extended to four co-accused in the case.
A vehicle belonging to Ashish Mishra had run over protesting farmers during a demonstration against the now-repealed three farm laws in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district on 3 October in 2022.
Eight people, including four farmers and a journalist, had died.
