Music maestro Ustad Rashid Khan passed away in Kolkata at the age of 55 due to prostate cancer.
The announcement was made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The musician was undergoing treatment, according to PTI.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
The musician was on ventilation. His health condition deteriorated following a cerebral attack last month. Khan, who belongs to the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, is the great-grandson of Gharana founder Inayat Hussain Khan.
