Ehtesham Hashmi, a lawyer in the Supreme Court of India and a human rights defender who has been actively raising his voices against oppressive forces, dies of heart attack Thursday morning. He was in his thirties .
Hashmi, known as a vocal critic of Hindutva, was part of many fact-finding visits including the recent fact-finding visit to anti-Muslim violence hit Tripura.
Hashmi was also among the many petitioners who had moved the Supreme Court of India challenging the Citizenship Amendment Act.
Many took to social media to mourn the death of Hashmi.
