Two militants killed in Urvi gunfight, claims J&K police

The Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Saturday that two militants were killed in a gunfight in North Kashmir’s Uri sector.

According to the police, one suspected militant was killed in an encounter that started on Saturday morning, and the other was killed in subsequent firing.

“Encounter has started between terrorists and Army & Baramulla Police in forward area of Uri, Hathlanga in Baramulla district. Further details shall follow,” the J&K Police said in the earlier post on X.

Another gunfight began during a joint operation of the Army and the police Tuesday night to hunt down the militants allegedly hiding in the Gadul forest of Kokernag. A soldier went missing and three officers were killed so far.
