An English lecturer at a private college in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district resigned after she was asked to remove her hijab by the college administration.

As the hijab ban continues in Karnataka, on Wednesday, many pre-university and degree colleges including Muslim institutions restricted girls to enter the campus with the headscarf across the state.

On Tuesday, over 500 lawyers, law students, and other legal professionals have strongly condemned "the violation of constitutional rights of young Muslim women who have been denied entry into educational spaces due to their wearing a hijab” in an open letter with total 765 signatories.

System wide intervention to uncover the true cause of disparity is required to break this vicious circle and help overcome this persistent inequality against Muslim Women in India.

Muskan Khan, a Muslim student who was hailed for braving threats and heckling by a Hindu mob outside her college in Karnataka's Mandya, has been conferred with the Fatima Sheikh for 2022.

As schools till Standard X reopened across Karnataka on Monday, thirteen Muslim girls of KPC school were denied exams and sent back home in Shimoga. The girls had come to attend the pre-board examination of Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
