Iran: Over 80 killed in twin blasts near Qassem Soleimani’s tomb

So far 81 people have been killed and over 170 injured by the twin explosions in Iran on Wednesday, marking the fourth anniversary of the death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) General Qassem Soleimani.

Explosions were reported in the vicinity of the cemetery of Soleimani in the Iranian city of Kerman.

Iranian state media, quoting a local official in the Kerman province, said the blasts “were caused by terrorist attacks”.

Tasnim, an Iranian news site linked to the IRGC has stated that the first explosion took place 700 metres (2,300 feet) from the burial place of Soleimani.

The second explosion then occurred one kilometre away.

Hossein Jalali, an Iranian MP from Kerman province, says “Israel is definitely one of the perpetrators” of the twin blasts.
