Maktoob’s Associate Creative Editor Shaheen Abdulla, who is also a student of journalism in Jamia Millia Islamia, was repeatedly attacked by Delhi Police today during the massive protest against India’s recent ‘anti-Muslim’ Citizenship Act.

He was mercilessly beaten up. Shaheen was taken to Holy Family hospital, Delhi. For now, Maktoob is glad Shaheen is safe.

Shaheen , young and vibrant student of journalism is a multimedia journalist based in New Delhi. He has been working at Maktoob for three years. Shaheen has directed a documentary on NRC issue in Assam , ‘In a state of doubt’ and the documentary received wide comments and discussion across India.

We strongly condemn the despicable attack perpetrated on Shaheen by Delhi Police.

We also salute and express our thanks to the protesting women students of Jamia Millia Islamia who saved him from the police.
