402 hotspots in UP as confirmed cases reach 1,843

A total of 1,843 positive COVID-19 cases have been reported in Uttar Pradesh, of which 289 cases have been cured/discharged and a total of 29 deaths have been reported till now, ANI quotes Principal Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad as saying. 

Awanish K Awasthi, State Additional Chief Secretary (Home) said that 402 hotspots have been identified across the state till date.

Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday said cases of coronavirus are increasing everyday in Agra and cited a letter written by the mayor who has sought bold decisions to save the city. Agra Mayor Naveen Jain had written a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on April 21, requesting him to “save Agra”.

India posted 1,554 new cases of COVID-19 since Saturday evening bringing the total number of those confirmed positive to 26,496 according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The death toll stands at 824.
