At least 100 doctors in Patna — 96 of them from Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) — have tested positive for coronavirus in the last two days. Only five of them are hospitalised.

NMCH’s medical students and junior and resident doctors are among those who have tested positive. Samples of 194 doctors were sent for testing after they complained of symptoms.

Officials said to the news agency that most of these doctors were on duty at the coronavirus wards of the hospital which might have caused the widespread infection. Patna District Magistrate said that PG hostel of the NMCH hospital will be first containment zone in the city.

Presently, the number of infected patients in Bihar is 1000 and the recovery rate of coronavirus patients in the state stands at 98.23 percent.

Of these, there are, however, no Omicron cases.
