UP: Akhilesh Yadav to fight his 1st state election from Karhal

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav will contest his first Assembly election from the Karhal seat in Mainpuri district.

Karhal, a stronghold of Samajwadi Party, has voted for SP candidates in every election since 1993, except in 2002, when the BJP flipped it.

Karhal is also one of five Assembly constituencies in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency, which elected Akhilesh Yadav’s father, and Samajwadi Party founder, Mulayam Singh Yadav to the Parliament five times.
