Photos: Burnt by Hindutva mob and bulldozed by BJP govt; Muslim lives in Khargone

In Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone, anti-Muslim violence that emanated from Ram Navami processions on 10 April left a trail of destruction for the Muslim community.

Dozens of Muslim houses were set on fire by Hindutva rioters on 10 April. A day after, on 11 April, the Madhya Pradesh BJP government demolished homes and shops belonging to Muslims.

Hindutva violence broke out in the Talab Chowk area of the Khargone city. Subsequently, anti-Muslim violence unleashed in the Gaushala Marg, Tabadi Chowk, Sanjay Nagar and Motipura areas. Ibris, 28-year-old Muslim was killed during the violence and at least 40 were injured in the violence by Hindutva groups.

Twenty-eight-year-old Ibris Khan went missing on 10 April evening when Hindutva violence broke out during a Ram Navami procession in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone. A week after on 17 April, his family discovered his body 120 kilometres away at the M.Y. Hospital morgue, in Indore. While the post-mortem report states that Ibris died of severe head injuries, Ibris’s wife and family members have accused the police and the Hindu rioters of being involved in the killing of Ibris.
