AAP protests vendetta politics after ED arrests Satyendar Jain

Hours after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Delhi minister and AAP leader Satyendar Jain in an alleged money laundering case, the Aam Aadmi Party termed it politically motivated.

Reacting to the arrest, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also alleged that Jain was arrested as the BJP was afraid of losing the Himachal Pradesh elections.

“A fake case is being run against Satyendra Jain for 8 years. Till now, ED has summoned him many times. After a while, the ED stopped calling him for many years, since they did not have anything against him. Now, they have started again because Satyendra Jain is the election in-charge of Himachal Pradesh,” Sisodia said.

“The BJP is losing badly in Himachal Pradesh. That is why Satyendra Jain has been arrested today – so that he cannot travel to Himachal. He will be released in a few days as the case is completely fake,” he added.

“He (Satyendra Jain) has been to the questioning of ED seven times, he was given a clean chit by the CBI, then suddenly why has he been arrested after eight years?” asks AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh.

“For eight years, the ED failed to investigate the case, but now as the BJP got to know that they are losing polls in Himachal, they arrested Jain as he was made state in-charge,” Singh said.

“Misusing the agencies for political gains against us is not a new thing. The BJP has been doing this for a long time, but the court has given clean chit to us in all cases. Jain will also come out clean. We are preparing for a legal battle now,” Singh MP added.

Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case on Monday. Investigations by the financial probe agency have alleged that in 2015-2016, when Jain was a public servant, companies owned and controlled by him received up to Rs 4.81 crore from shell companies through a Hawala network.
