Clash broke out in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur; Police deny communal angle

On Tuesday night, a clash broke out between two groups of boys in Soorsagar, Rajasthan’s Jodhpur culminated in stone-pelting. Police have arrested three people in relation to the incident.

According to the reports, the conflict between the groups started over an argument. Subsequently, a crowd gathered at the spot. The group came face to face at Rupavato Ka Bera near the royalty checkpoint of Soorsagar.

Some people have sustained minor injuries.

However, the DCP of Jodhpur west has ruled out the possibility of any communal angle. The clash hit area saw a heavy deployment of police personnel on Wednesday.

DCP Jodhpur West – Vandita Rana denied the communal angle as the clash was between a group of boys from a particular community.

She told ANI that “It cannot be termed a clash between two communities as the boys from a particular community were fighting among themselves, and a boy from the other community tried to meddle in between, which would not be appropriate to see a clash between two communities. It was a clash between the boys.”

DCP also said, “It was a fight between some boys in the evening. One or two boys who tried to intervene were also beaten. The entire incident has been captured on CCTV. An FIR would be registered after which an action would be taken.”

The police are further investigating the matter.

Consequently, the police controlled the situation on the ground after arriving. Moreover, the police have deployed additional personnel, given the sensitive nature of the issue.

In May, a day before Eid al Fitr, incidents of communal violence broke out in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur. Tuesday night’s violence is the first such incident to come after the 2nd of May.
