Andhra: 9 school students die by suicide in 48 hours after exam results

Nine students have died by suicide in Andhra Pradesh after results of class 11 and 12 exams were declared on Wednesday by the Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Examination.

Around one million students took the exam, with a pass rate of 61% for class 11 and 72% for class 12.

After failing the AP intermediate exam, two students aged 17 from the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh took their own lives. The girl ended her life by jumping into a lake, while the boy in the same district died from consuming a pesticide.

B Tarun, a 17-year-old student killed himself in Srikakulam district by jumping in front of a train, reported NDTV.

A Akhilasree (16), died by suicide at her residence after failing in some subjects of the intermediate first year.

Another student who is 18-year-old ended his life by hanging at his residence after he had failed in one of the subjects in the intermediate second year.

Another boy who is 17-year-old student hanged himself to death at his home after he was said to be depressed over securing low marks in the intermediate first year.
