Coronavirus: India reports 10,126 fresh cases – lowest one-day count in 266 days

On Tuesday, India recorded 10,126 fresh coronavirus infections, the lowest in 8 months, taking the overall tally of cases in the country to 3,43,77,113 since the pandemic began in January last year.

Meanwhile, the recovery count increased to 3,37,75,086 with 11,982 recoveries being reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry. The recovery rate is currently at 98.25 per cent. There are now 1,40,638 active cases in India, the lowest in 8 months.

The countrywide toll increased to 4,61,389 after 332 people died of the disease in the last 24 hours.

Top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 5,404 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 841 cases, Mizoram with 730 cases, Maharashtra with 693 cases and West Bengal with 603 cases.

So far, 9.08 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country, with 59,08,440 doses being administered in the last 24 hours.
