CPIM’s Arya Rajendran, 21, to be India’s youngest mayor from Kerala

CPIM’s Arya Rajendran, a 21-year-old BSc student, is all set to become the next Mayor of Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram.

Once Arya assumes office, she would be the youngest Mayor in India.

Arya is currently pursuing her BSc Mathematics from the All Sainst College and is a member of Student Federation of India (SFI) State Committee. She’s also a CPM branch committee member.

She is currently also the Kerala president of Balasangham, which is CPM’s children wing.

Arya won from Mudavanmugal ward, defeating UDF candidate Sreekala by 2872 votes.

“I will happily assume the new responsibility given by the party,” Arya told the reporters.
