Earthquake of magnitude 5.9 hits Afghanistan, tremors felt in Delhi

Tremors were felt in New Delhi and other areas of the National Capital Region (NCR) after an earthquake measuring 5.9 magnitude struck the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan late Thursday.

The quake was at a depth of 200 kms below the earth’s surface. The tremors were felt at around 8 pm.

There were no reports of any injuries or damage.

This was the second time in a week that Delhi felt tremors. On January 1, an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 struck Jhajjar in Haryana and tremors were felt in Delhi and surrounding areas.
