Four men allegedly barged into the house of a Muslim family and sexually assaulted an 18-year-old girl at a locality under Trans Yamuna police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra on Tuesday evening, Times Of India reported.
The video of the purported incident that went viral on social media shows the house and vehicles being vandalised by the assailants.
An FIR has been registered against the four accused named by the house owner. Police said the accused are absconding.
The girl’s brother said the family was targeted for being the “only Muslim family in the locality”.
“They targeted my teenage daughter. She was molested and her clothes were torn. When we objected, the four men, including Vishal Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Sheelu and Chotu, attacked us. A few others stood guard outside our house,” the house owner told TOI.
Police have registered an FIR against the accused under IPC section 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354 B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), 427 (mischief causing damage), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide).
