Maharashtra: Hindutva men assault principal over Christian prayers in school

The principal of a school in Maharashtra’s Pune district was assaulted by the Hindutva outfit Bajrang Dal on Tuesday over students reciting a Christian prayer during the morning assembly. The Hindu group also alleged the school has installed CCTV cameras inside the outer premises of the girls’ washroom.

Hindu men chanting “Har Har Mahadev” and “Bajrang Dal” chased the principal who could be seen rushing away from the mob in a torn shirt.

Alexander Coates Reid, the principal of DY Patil High School in Pune’s Talegaon Dabhade town, can be seen running away from the mob before he was stopped and filmed.

“We received a written complaint in the matter on Tuesday from parents, we are investigating further in it. No FIR has been registered yet” police told media.
