Hindutva men barge into Christian family’s house, burn Bible in Karnataka

At least four Hindutva men barged into a house of a Christian family at Mallenu village in Chitradurga district of Karnataka on Tuesday evening and set a Bible on fire.

The house belonged to Ekantamma, a 62-year-old Christian lady.

The assailants entered Ekantamma’s house, questioned those who were inside as to why they were holding prayers in the house, and burnt the Bible, India Today reported.

“Ekantamma, a 62-year-old lady went to a Church in Hiriyur because she was not feeling well. She also informed her father, Rama Naik. The people from the Church went to Ekantamma’s house in the evening and held prayers. When they were on their way back home, at least four men created a ruckus and asked them why they were holding prayers in the house,” India Today quotes Parashurama, the SP of Chitradurga as saying.

The assailants are members of the Bajrang Dal, according to Public TV. The Hindutva men also accused the Christian family of forced religious conversion.
