Karnataka: Hindu Mob enters madrasa on Dussehra, performs puja

Members of a Dussehra procession forcefully entered into Mahmud Gawan Madrasa in Karnataka’s Bidar district on Wednesday, shouted religious slogans and performed Hindu rituals on the premises.

Mahmud Gawan Madrasa in Bidar which was built in the 15th century is a heritage structure of national importance under the Archeological Survey of India.

Nine persons have been booked after the incident, NDTV reported. Four people have been arrested so far. Muslim bodies have threatened protests if no one is arrested by Friday.

Videos show that the mob broke the lock of the madrasa and entered it.

Videos circulating online also show that the mob is shouting “Jai Shri Ram” and “Hindu Dharam Jai” slogans, standing on the steps of the madrassa, before performing puja.

Asaduddin Owaisi, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief accused the BJP government in Karnataka of promoting such incidents to “demean Muslims”.
