J&K lecturer suspended for appearing in Supreme Court for Article 370 case

Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday suspended a lecturer at a government school in Srinagar for appearing in an ongoing hearing in the Supreme Court on the abrogation of Article 370.

Advocate Zahoor Ahmad Bhat appeared in the apex court on Wednesday, arguing for the petitioners in the case.

In the 10-minute time given to him, Bhat argued that “Within 2 days, the special status of JK was downgraded to UTs- this is in violation of constitutional morality, national interest, federalism, cooperative federalism, constitutional supremacy and rule of law.”

“Pending enquiry into his conduct, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, senior lecturer, political science, presently posted at Government Higher Secondary School, Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect for violation of provisions of J&K CSR, Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees (conduct) Rules,1971,” states the order.
