The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice on a plea by India’s wrestling team members that sought an FIR against Wrestling Federation (WFI) President and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over allegations of sexual harassment.

the case was mentioned by Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal who claimed that the survivors include a minor.

Noting that there are serious allegations in the plea, the bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha, said that the identity of petitioners will be redacted from the petition.

There are serious allegations made in the petition by wrestlers who have represented India and sexual harassment meted out to them. The matter requires consideration by this court,” the Court said in its order, Bar and Bench reported.

The plea is now listed for the next hearing on April 28.

Top wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, resumed their protest at Jantar Mantar on Sunday demanding FIR against the WFI chief.

The same wrestlers had staged a protest in January over Bhushan that was called off due to assurance from the sports ministry to constitute an oversight committee to probe the allegations.

The wrestlers are demanding for the findings of the panel to be made public, and filed police complaints against Brij Bhushan.

Bhushan faces multiple charges including attempt to murder, punishment for dacoity, and causing disappearance of evidence among others, although he has not been convicted in any one of these.
