Telangana: BRS joins hands with BSP for Lok Sabha polls

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have officially announced their decision to form an alliance for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Telangana.

The decision was finalised after BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao met BSP State President and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar on Tuesday.

Further details of the alliance including the seat-sharing will be consulted with BSP national president Mayawati soon, presidents of both parties announced after the meeting.

Mr Praveen Kumar along with a delegation of his party joined KCR over lunch at his Nandinagar residence in Hyderabad.

Senior leader T. Harsh Rao, former Minister V. Prashanth Reddy, Balka Suman, MLC Deshapathi Srinivas and others from BRS participated in the meeting.

Praveen Kumar praised BRS for its commitment to secularism and slammed the current Congress rule stating that the unemployed youth were taking to the streets again, within four months.

Although neither Mr Praveen Kumar nor any other BSP candidate could win in the recent Assembly elections, the party bagged a vote share of 1.37%. Still, the alliance becomes relevant as BRS lost to Congress for a 2% overall vote share difference.
