The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to All India Trinamool Congress spokesperson Saket Gokhale in connection with a misappropriation of funds case.

The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to All India Trinamool Congress spokesperson Saket Gokhale in connection with a misappropriation of funds case.

A bench of Justices BR Gavai and Vikram Nath said it was inclined to allow the TMC leader’s application since the chargesheet had already been filed in the matter.

The counsel for Gokhale informed the top court that he had been in jail for 108 days, reported Bar and Bench.

Saket Gokhale, who is also an RTI activist, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in January this year for alleged misappropriation of funds he collected through crowdfunding.

The central agency had alleged that Gokhale used a significant portion of more than Rs one crore he collected through crowdfunding for “wining and dining”, intra-day trading in the stock market, and for treatment of family members.

He joined the TMC in August last year.
