A Muslim youth was tied to a tree and brutally assaulted by three Hindu men over suspicion of mobile phone theft in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr.
The Muslim man’s head was tonsured, and the assailants forced him to chant “Jai Shree Ram,” a Hindutva war cry.
The victim was identified as Sahil, a daily wage worker.
Reportedly, the incident happened on 13 June under Kakod Police Station limits.
The video of the incident quickly went viral and led to the arrest of two accused men in connection with the matter.
The assailants were identified as Gajendra, Saurabh, and Dhanni.
Meanwhile, the police also detained the hate crime survivor, Sahil.
Sahil’s father, Shakeel, said that his son was framed by cops and imprisoned.
“We named all the accused, but now we are being threatened to strike a compromise or face consequences,” he told reporters.
