Uttarakhand: Thousands of Muslims protest genocidal calls outside police headquarters

A massive protest was held outside the Uttarakhand police headquarters and the State Secretariat Saturday against the genocidal calls by Hindu monks and police inaction.

The protest which was led by Muslim residents of the region demanded immediate arrest of the Hindu monks and Hindutva leaders who urged the Hindus to armed fight against the country’s Muslims.

Videos showed thousands of protesters moving toward the state police headquarters and raising slogans against Hindutva.

The 3-hour protest was concluded after protesters were given assurance about proper legal action against those who made anti-Muslim speeches at the Dharam Sansad.

During the 17-19 December Hindu Parliament in Haridwar, repeated calls were given by several Hindu monks to wage a war against Muslims and reduce their population in India.

No arrest has been made in the case so far despite huge criticisms and massive outrage.

Meanwhile, Haridwar Police said that they have added the names of Yati Narsinghanand, the main organiser of the Haridwar event, and Sagar Sindhuraj Maharaj from Roorkee to the criminal case now.

“The FIR already had three names and on Saturday we added two more names, taking the number of accused to five in total. These names were added following investigation in the case. As the investigation is still going on, more names might be added,” Indian Express quoted Haridwar city circle officer (CO) Shekhar Suyal as saying.
