“Who is Adani? What does he manufacture?,” asks Priyanka Gandhi

In her critique of the Union government in poll-bound Chhattisgarh, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Tuesday, alleged that the Narendra Modi government had ceded the nation’s resources and wealth to a select group of major industrialists.

“It is not their property that they are selling at cheap rates. Take big government companies – railways, BHEL, HAL…..today in whose hands they are. They were in your hands. You use to say get us jobs in these companies because we want security, want government job. In whose hands are the country’s ports, airports. It is in hands of Adani. Who is Adani. Is he a poor person, a farmer, a labourer. What does he manufacture?” said Vadra.

She was addressing a rally in Kurud in Dhamtari district.

Vadra said top industralists earlier were known for what they manufactured – what Tata made and also the things Birla makes. “Today, tell what does Adani, Ambaniji manufacture. Can anyone tell what they make. How many people work for them, how many jobs they give, you can’t tell… They don’t manufacture, what was yours has been taken. Nothing is being made for you. This was your property which should have gone in your pockets,” she said.

The first phase of voting was held for 20 seats in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday. Chhattisgarh has recorded a voter turnout of 71.11% amid an IED blast in Sukma district and an incident of exchange of fire between Maoists and security forces in Kanker district in the first phase of Assembly elections.
