X removes headlines from articles shared on the platform

Elon Musk has introduced a new change to X, the social network previously known as Twitter, by removing headlines from articles shared on the platform.

Musk had confirmed this alteration in August, stating it would enhance aesthetics. He said: “This is coming from me directly. Will greatly improve the esthetics.”

This modification will affect how media companies share content on X, as posts will now lack context without the headline below the image unless it’s included in the post’s text or within the shared image. Despite this change, articles shared on X still contain links to their original sources.

Elon Musk has implemented several changes since taking over Twitter in October 2022, including rebranding to X, revamping the verified check-mark program, and significant layoffs.

Musk also also recently said that X is “moving to having a small monthly payment for use of the X system” of “a few dollars or something” because “it’s the only way I can think of to combat vast armies of bots.”
