IPL 2024: Lucknow Super Giants beat Gujarat Titans by 33 runs

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered a 33-run win over Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2024 match at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Shubman Gill’s dismissal at the end of the powerplay triggered the batting collapse of GT. They fell 33 runs short of the target set by Lucknow Super Giants.

The GT side could not mount a strong chase of 164 and ended at 130 all out as LSG’s pacer Yash Thakur (5/30) and spinner Krunal Pandya (3/11) came up with impactful efforts.

For GT, only opener B Sai Sudharsan (31, 23b) could offer some resistance.

In the first innings, disciplined bowling and fielding effort from GT restricted LSG to 163/5, as the hosts struggled for momentum.

KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis fell in quick succession after a decent half-century partnership, while Nicholas Pooran couldn’t provide the late flourish he is capable of.

Earlier, Umesh Yadav rocked LSG, removing Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal in the first three overs of the match.

LSG rode on Stoinis’ (58, 43b, 4x4s, 2x6s) solid effort to reach a par total. Other contributions came from skipper KL Rahul (33, 31b) and Nicholas Pooran (32, 22b).

For GT, pacers Umesh Yadav and Darshan Nalkande took two wickets apiece.
