Tristan Stubbs and Prithvi Shaw contributed half-centuries for DC, but their efforts fell short in securing a victory. Gerald Coetzee claimed four wickets, yet it was Jasprit Bumrah who turned the tide of the game with a couple of crucial wickets and conceding only 22 runs from his allotted overs.
Earlier in the first innings Quickfire cameos from Tim David and Romario Shepherd helped MI post 234/5 against DC. Shepherd smashed Anrich Nortje for 32 runs in the final over.
This is the first victory of Mumbai Indians under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. The decision to appoint HardiK as captain replacing Rohit Sharma has drawn criticism from fans as the team struggles eralier.
