Indian American Muslims welcome release of Kafeel Khan, demand freedom for other prisoners of conscience

The Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC), an advocacy group committed to safeguarding India’s pluralist and tolerant ethos today welcomed the release from prison of Dr. Kafeel Khan, a whistleblower Indian Muslim doctor who has been repeatedly imprisoned by the government in Uttar Pradesh state on false criminal charges. IAMC also welcomes the release of Pinjra Tod activist Devangana Kalita (Kalita remains in jail for the fourth case. She got bail in the third case) and former Aligarh Muslim University student leaders Sharjeel Usmani and Farhan Zuberi.
