Another case of casteism has now come to light from one of India's premier institutes, IIT. Vipin Pudiyath Veetil, an assistant professor in Indian Institute of Technology-Madras resigned alleging caste discrimination.

Basavaraj Madivalapaa Badiger (19) an auto-rickshaw driver from the Dalit community and Davalbi Bandagisab Tambad (18) a Muslim girl were brutally killed by the girl’s family, in what police said was a suspected case of “honour killing” in Vijayapura district of North Karnataka on Tuesday.

Sanjeev Kumar, a Dalit youth and an egg-seller was faced casteist slurs and beaten brutally along with his family members including his elderly father and young daughter by the people associated with Hindu fringe group Bajrang Dal in Karma village of Rohtas district of Bihar on 7 June.

On 4 October, a 17-year-old OBC girl, was found dead at her employer’s house at D10/3, Model Town, New Delhi. A fact finding report has been released on friday by All India Dalit Mahila Adhikar Manch (AIDMAM), an autonomous unit of National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR) and a platform for women from Dalit communities in India to escalate voices for justice.

The fact-finding team led by prominent activist Medha Patkar noted that the Hathras incident is "a result of cumulative effect of caste, gender, inequality, and injustice."

A junior doctor Bhagwat Devangan (29) attached to the state-run Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital in Madhya Pradesh allegedly died by suicide on Thursday evening after facing caste discrimination at the hands of five senior doctors at the college and hospital.
