With extreme heat gripping large parts of India, the country is working to roll out life-saving health action plans to combat the heatwave, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said on Friday.

Climate scientists have long said that a warming of the earth's surface caused mainly by industrial-era emissions of carbon-dioxide from fossil fuels will make weather events more extreme.
