Israeli forces killed a Palestinian farmer in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza on Sunday, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

The armed wing of the Palestinian militant group Hamas said on Saturday that it was delaying the second round of hostage releases until Israel was committed to letting aid trucks enter northern Gaza.

Palestinian officials confirmed that Israel had released 39 Palestinians as part of the truce deal between Israel and Hamas.

Israel intensified its bombardment of the Gaza Strip from “air, land and sea” over the 24-hour period between Wednesday and Thursday afternoon ahead of a truce scheduled to start on Friday, the UN reports.

Israeli forces arrested Muhammad Abu Salmiya, director of al-Shifa Hospital, the largest in the besieged enclave.

Nearly 75 percent of the more than 13,000 Palestinians killed in Gaza by Israel since 7 October are children, women and elderly people, said UN Palestinian refugee agency.
