The poll war in West Bengal has been the most dynamic state assembly polls in recent years in India. The eight-phased state assembly elections in Bengal ended on 29 April and now all eyes are on the counting of votes.

With the poll-bound West Bengal reeling under the pressure of tackling the second wave of the coronavirus, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien, late on Sunday, announced that Chief Minister and party supremo Mamata Banerjee will not be campaigning in Kolkata anymore.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Friday said that she will call upon the Election Commission to stop the BJP from bringing "outsiders" during campaigning, squarely blaming the saffron party for exacerbating the COVID-19 situation in the poll bound state.

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party would not win even 70 seats in the state Assembly polls, dismissing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that the saffron party had already won 100 seats.

"I am really sad and ashamed, I haven't seen this kind of PM who crosses the line while speaking. I have worked for all religions. What have I not done? Now only one thing is left, 'BJP hatao desh bachao'. Left and Congress are BJP agents," Banerjee said.
