Prominent leader and Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza was earlier arrested, and now his close associates are facing the brunt of state action under the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Prominent Muslim scholar Maulana Tauqeer Raza, along with seven others, was arrested on Saturday by the Bareilly police, a day after being kept under house arrest along with eight others. His arrest comes amid a sweeping crackdown, with police registering 10 FIRs at different police stations across the district.
The Moradabad police late Sunday booked Barelvi sect cleric and founder of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council Maulana Tauqeer Ahmed Raza Khan on charges of promoting enmity among sections of people over his criticisms against people who demanded a ‘Hindu Rashtra.’
