Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India's top-ranked university for several years is reportedly discriminating PhD applicants from SC, ST, OBC, and Muslim categories by giving low marks in interviews.

About 33% of Muslims, 21% of Dalits, 22 % of Adivasis, and 15% of OBCs in India have experienced discrimination on the basis of their religion and caste in hospitals, according to a survey by NGO Oxfam India.

Medical and dental courses in the country will have a 27 percent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs), 10 percent for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) under the All India Quota Scheme for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Thursday following a long-standing demand from OBC communities and organisations to give OBC reservation in all-India quota of medical education.

Requesting for the speedy disposal of a 2015 writ petition which pertains to the OBC reservation in All India Quota in Medical Education, writer and journalist Dilip Mandal has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India, Justice N.V. Ramana.

Although said in anger, the open support given by Mayawati to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 28 October is no news. A fact finding report has been released on friday by All India Dalit Mahila Adhikar Manch (AIDMAM), an autonomous unit of National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR) and a platform for women from Dalit communities in India to escalate voices for justice.
