When we discuss the caste question in Kerala, people acclaim with a loud clarion, "This is Kerala, there is no place for caste here. Keralites don't believe in caste.” Even if we say this with utmost good intentions, we can see that covertly and openly, the diabolic caste oppression is still going on in Kerala. There are a plethora of reasons to say this. In the current scenario, we can see how this nefarious system is working in the K R Narayanan Film Institute.

K R Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts in Kerala which is named after the first Indian President from Dalit community, is currently facing caste discrimination against students and staff, under the leadership of the Director of the institute, Shankar Mohan.

Students of South Asian University have been protesting for last 24 days, demanding a decent stipend for economically weak students, extension for PhD students whose research was disrupted by the pandemic, a stipend parity with JRF and membership of students in the anti-sexual harassment committee.

Raising slogans of "JP Nadda, wapas jao (go back)", the protesting students demanded rollback of the National Education Policy of 2020, and grant of central status to Patna University.
