The Supreme Court on Monday pulled up the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh and the police for the manner in which they have been dealing with a case in which a teacher in Muzaffarnagar district instructed her students to slap their seven-year-old Muslim classmate.

Uttar Pradesh Police registered an FIR against Alt News Cofounder Mohammad Zubair for allegedly disclosing the identity of the minor Muslim student who was subjected to Islamophobic abuse by a teacher in the Muzaffarnagar school on video which went viral on social media.

The private school in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, where a teacher had instructed children in her classroom to hit a Muslim student one by one, referred to his faith, has been sealed for now.

Several users of microblogging platform X on Saturday complained that their posts about a teacher ordering kids to slap their Muslim classmate had been blocked in India.

Asaduddin Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen while reacting sharply to a viral video showing a school teacher in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar asking her students to slap a Muslim child and passing Islamophobic remarks, said UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is responsible for what happened to the child.
